Don’t meet your heroes… Podcast with them!

Last week I was very lucky to be hosted by one of my favorite band’s frontman Valient Himself from Valient Thorr on his podcast called…

His podcast is here: @outtheretalk

So you’re probably wondering what is OUT THERE w VALIENT HIMSELF and why was I on it? Well, my brother-in-law, Kevin and I took it in a few Motorhead concerts around a decade ago. I don’t know why but we saw about three of their shows in maybe a year’s time. Coincidentally one of the opening bands was always Valient Thorr which after the second or third show we realized we’re pretty amazing. They were always full of energy and just going wild and so once we realized that we had seen this band more than bands we had previously meant to go see, we decided to do some serious musical investigation. At that time Kevin was my business PCA which means he was the guy that was taken care of me and bringing me to all my professional events like going into work or speaking engagements so we had plenty of time to play Valient Thorr’s jams in the car. Long story short we fell in love

Fast forward a decade later and I’m following Valient Himself on Twitter and a few other platforms and he’s running a podcas. I had seen that he was looking for fans of his to reach out if they had anything to discuss on various topics. I’m one of his advertisements it said he was seeking “robot men”, and the fact that I have a wheelchair basically puts me into that category. I sent him a message about what I do professionally, on side projects, and how my medication regiment for my disease works and he was interested enough to have me on.

Valient Himself with my…self…

I know that the saying goes “never meet your heroes” or something to that effect, but there’s no clause about being on their podcast…so I think I lucked out. It was really exciting and personally fulfilling to be able to tell my story to his audience, his fans, as well as to the man himself that inspires me through his art. Being on his podcast makes me feel truly lucky and that I have something unique to share with the world.

A huge shout out and thank you to Valient Himself! Hopefully he can stay healthy as well as myself to see him in concert again someday!

Thanks again!
