So what’s the deal with the videos. Why now? Why not 10 years ago? And before my physical capabilities are completely gone it seemed like a fun project.
Basically, I have some free time… And I thought since I’ve been enjoying making little projects in 3D Studio Max here and there (sometimes it’s just to see if I can make it, other times it’s to see if I can print it) but either way, I’m just enjoying making stuff. So instead of just making stuff for me, I thought I’d turn some of these ideas and processes I’m thinking of into long form instructions or tutorials for YouTube. So Below is the most recent video tutorial.
I just wanted to go for something simple and on my desk was a phone stand. It’s pretty simple, it’s based on easy objects to create. Basically making a single plane and using the Shell modifier does almost 99% of the model. It basically does the heavy lifting. But a lot of people don’t know how these specific strategies work and how much time they’ll save you in the long run. You could Box model this, in fact I started box modeling this in the 8th episode, but in the 9th we switched to just starting with a simple one-dimensional plane.
